Quinta de Arcossó Grande Reserva Red

Quinta de Arcossó Grande Reserva Red is a prestigious wine, cultivated with care in Arcossó, Vidago, in the Ribeira de Oura sub-region. Coming from a privileged plot of 10.5 hectares, within a 12-hectare vineyard planted in 2003, this Grande Reserva grows on a southern slope, 400 meters above sea level, benefiting from a 20% slope and granite soil, elements that give the grapes exceptional quality. The grapes were trodden by foot in 1000-liter vats and fermented in old chestnut wood barrels, over 100 years old, for 15 days, under careful manual pumping. After malolactic fermentation in stainless steel vats, the wine was divided, with half returning to the barrels and the other half maturing in new French oak barrels for 12 months, without resorting to mechanical processes, preserving the integrity and essence of the wine. With a color as deep as the mountains from which it comes, Quinta de Arcossó Grande Reserva Red displays an intense and complex aroma, marked by red fruits and black olives, enriched by a striking minerality, a reflection of the region's hydro-mineral wealth. The palate, robust and structured like the granite that shelters the vineyards, reveals a surprising softness, freshness and notes of mint and spices. This wine, unfiltered and unfined, encapsulates the collective essence of its origin, offering a unique and memorable sensorial experience with each glass.

Mr. Amílcar chose to ferment this white wine, an Arinto from Quinta de Arcossó, directly in the Vidago region, 450 meters above sea level in Trás-os-Montes (Ribeira de Oura). He adopted a unique approach: 80% of the fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks with 'bâtonnage', while the remaining 20% was fermented in French oak barrels. After this process, this delicious Arinto was aged in bottles for 30 months. Enhance the flavor of this white wine by decanting it for an hour before serving. Quinta de Arcossó, located in Trás-os-Montes, is a wine project dedicated to artisanal wine production. Using a minimalist winemaking approach, inspired by ancient techniques dating back to Roman times, the farm produces distinctive wines known for their notable acidity, ripe fruit and robust tannins. These wines, aged over time, are produced in limited quantities due to the artisanal care dedicated to each bottle.

After manual harvesting, the grapes were quickly sent to the cellar, where they were destemmed and gently pressed. The must, clarified by the cold, fermented slowly for approximately 2 weeks in stainless steel vats, with controlled temperature. With a lemon yellow color and a bright appearance, this is an aromatically discreet wine, of medium intensity, which privileges the notes of green apple, lime and a vegetal character balanced by a pungent minerality. In the mouth it is “full” and vibrant. The finish is persistent and pleasantly confirms the mineral character of the nose. Contains sulfites.

But what grape varieties does this red hide? These are varieties cultivated in the Douro for many generations, such as Touriga-Fêmea, Tinta Francisca, Bastardo or Marufo, supported in the blend by Tinta Amarela, Tinto Cão, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa and old vine. This unusual combination results in an original wine that does not neglect the character of the region. Contains sulfites.

Dust tries to be a balanced and elegant wine. In general the wines of the Douro are supported in the tannin, but the Dust is sustained in the acidity. A very drinkable and appetizing wine when new but at the same time has the capacity to evolve. I want each wine to be the mirror of the vineyards that give it origin, maintaining its profile but following the variations that occur in the vineyard year after year. Contains Sulfites.
