Quinta do Vesúvio DOC 2009 Red
93,99 €
Aged for 13 months in new 400L French oak barrels. In 2009, after yet another dry winter, hot summer conditions clearly indicated that an early harvest was likely and good weather and considerable heat throughout the final ripening period brought one of the earliest harvests at Quinta do Vesuvio. The combination of drought and very hot temperatures in August and September set the stage for a challenging crop. In fact, this was one of the smallest vintages in the Douro over the last 15 years, with some of the region’s main varietals failing in some areas under the difficult conditions. Contains sulfites.

80% of the lot aged in second year French oak barrels for 14 months. The grapes are harvested into small boxes and received in the property's cellar. The grapes are harvested into small boxes and received in the property's cellar. Manual sorting is followed by destemming and gentle crushing, after which the grapes are transferred to fermentation vessels using a peristaltic pump. Fermentations are followed individually and temperatures and maceration movements are adjusted in order to maximize the potential of the grapes. A period of post-fermentation maceration is carried out to promote the extraction of tannins from the seeds — complementary to the tannins from the skins — in order to favor the structure and accentuate the aging potential. Wide aromatic expression: forest floor, bush, pine needles and discreet fennel notes, later giving way to black fruits (blackberry, blueberry), black plum and traces of licorice. In the mouth some chocolate, mushroom/truffle and hint of smoked, showing the good integration of the barrel. Monumental in the mouth, with several layers providing fascinating complexity. Refined tannins combine with good acidity (discreet, but present), enhancing the formidable structure. Eminently gastronomic wine with great potential for long aging.

Quinta da Pellada Pape Red
40,79 €
The "Premium" line of Quinta da Pellada wines has long been an icon of Dão wines. For Álvaro Castro, the viticulture and the characteristics of each year are that shape each harvest, however, dedication and alertness are essential so that nature can be "protected", in order to exercise the minimum of human intervention in the elaboration of each one of their wines. This field blend, which joins castes from Quinta da Pellada and Casa da Passarella, has been staging for 14 months in allier oak casks. Intense ruby color, very concentrated in the aroma, modern and vigorous style. In the mouth, compote and game notes in which the final toasted notes leave a pleasant memory. Tannins fine and of good quality, everything very well proportioned, giving it a great complexity. Contains Sulfites.
Buçaco Red
60,17 €
The Buçaco were, and still are, always vinified in the same way and with the same methods of old. The fact that the grapes originate in the regions of Dão and Bairrada guarantees a great wine, which develops in a noble bottle. It is a deep wine, which reflects the elegance of the Touriga Nacional do Dão, and the freshness and vigor of the Bairrada Berry. With black fruit, it is slightly rustic and complex, presenting an enormous potential of aging. Contains Sulfites.
