60% mixed old vines (from a vine under control by Quinta do Vallado in the Torto River Valley) and 40% Touriga Nacional from Quinta do Vallado. The grapes (50% of them with stems) were fermented during 4 days in presses with footfoot periodic. The wine aged for 20 months in stainless steel tanks. Deep and strong nose, with intense aromas of dark fruits. full bodied with ripe and smooth tannins. Excellent structure and complexity, with very long finish. Contains sulfites.

Classic winemaking. Fermentation at controlled temperature up to 28ºC for 6 days with slight post-fermentation maceration. 11 months aging in French oak. This wine expresses the desire to make a Touriga Nacional from old vines. In a region where the old vineyard consists of a wide range of grape varieties mixed in the same plot. In 2009, 3,500 kg of Touriga Nacional were harvested from a single 80-year-old vineyard, which implied making a choice of Touriga Nacional grape varieties in the large set of grape varieties of that parcel. Vinification was done in a cement vat with pre- and post-fermentative maceration. Aging for 1 year in 225 liter French oak barrels. Opaque red color, aroma of red fruits with spicy notes. Herdade do Peso Essência Red
After malolactic fermentation the wines were tranferred separately to new barrels (60%) and 4 years (40%) of French oak, where they trained for about 12 months until the final batch. After bottling, a temperature controlled stage of 15ºC is followed for 6 months in order to achieve the appropriate balance for its consumption. To preserve its great quality, it was bottled without treatment by the cold and without glue so that a slight deposit can form in the bottle. The elegance and balance of the Herdade do Peso Essência 2014 make this wine the perfect accompaniment to the tasty meat dishes of the rich Alentejo gastronomy.
