Aged for 13 months in new 400L French oak barrels. In 2009, after yet another dry winter, hot summer conditions clearly indicated that an early harvest was likely and good weather and considerable heat throughout the final ripening period brought one of the earliest harvests at Quinta do Vesuvio. The combination of drought and very hot temperatures in August and September set the stage for a challenging crop. In fact, this was one of the smallest vintages in the Douro over the last 15 years, with some of the region’s main varietals failing in some areas under the difficult conditions. Contains sulfites.

Organic Wine: Fermentation and aging with agitation of fine lees in 500 Lts of French Oak barrels. Granitic soil of the Douro Superior, very sandy at an average altitude of 575 meters. Manual harvest for small 15 kg perforated boxes. The grapes are pressed without crushing and without destemming under an inert atmosphere in order to preserve all the aromatic potential of the grapes. A great effort is made so that all pre-fermentation operations are carried out within the strictest rigor, being responsible for the intrinsic quality of the future wine while preserving the primary aromas. Mineral and citrus aroma of grapefruit and exotic fruits, with discrete barrel notes well integrated. Very persistent and fresh mouth with citric notes and very lively acidity, in harmony with fat and well structured notes of the barrel aging, allowing to foresee longevity.

Aging on fine lees in stainless steel vats for 3 months. Manual harvest for small 15Kg perforated boxes, whole bunches without destemming, using very gentle crushing and pressing processes. A great effort is made to ensure that all pre-fermentation operations are carried out with the utmost rigor, in order to interfere as little as possible with the intrinsic quality of the grapes. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Great aromatic purity, complex of mineral character, exotic fruits, citrus and white flowers of the field, characteristic of the grape varieties that give rise to it. The best grapes created at Quinta do Poço do Lobo were harvested manually, and after rigorous selection and de-stemming, they macerated for 10 days in a press with a pneumatic treader. After malolactic fermentation, the wine aged for 12 months in oak barrels. It was bottled after minimal clarification.
Deep ruby color. Complex aroma, with notes of dominant red and black fruits and the barrel where it aged, as well as faint vegetable nuances. Dense, structured and fresh flavor. It has tasty tannins and good gustatory persistence. Contains sulfites.
