Founded in 1920 by the brothers José, Manuel and Albano Costa, Caves São João is a family business that was originally dedicated to the marketing of fine Douro wines and liqueurs. Today, the oldest family-run wine company still operating in the municipality of Anadia, in the 1930s, it passed the ban on the production of Porto wines outside Vila Nova de Gaia, to sell Bairrada table wines. At the end of the 50’s, one of the most famous wine brands in the Bairrada region – the “Frei João” – was born and, a little later, the “Porta dos Cavaleiros” brand from the Dão region. Manual harvest in 15 kg boxes. Manual selection of grapes on a sorting mat. After destemming and crushing, the different varieties are vinified individually in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature, with maceration being considered appropriate for their characteristics. After malolactic fermentation, part of the batch aged in French oak barrels for about 20 months, and the rest in stainless steel vats. its gently floral and fruity components, and its lush and dense structure in the mouth, refreshed by the fluidity and delicacy of Alfrocheiro. A set in which the notes of French oak wood where it was aged are very well integrated. Contains sulfites.

Hand-picked grapes, reception with total destemming and crushing immediately. Fermentation between 16 - 17ºC for a period of about 20 days with indigenous yeasts. Aging for 4 months in stainless steel vats until bottling. Citrus fruit and minerality, grapefruit, notes of nettles and white flowers, very fresh and light in the mouth, revealing the altitude of the vines. The soul of this wine lies in the unique combination of Síria and Fonte Cal grapes from old vines planted in granite and schist soils with quartz veins, in the hydrographic basin of the Douro River at an average altitude of 700 meters. Contains sulfites.

Fermentation in stainless steel, lemon straw color, very fresh and fruity nose, it is rich in notes of fresh fruit such as apricot, pear and tropical fruits. In the mouth the entrance is fresh, fruity and very tasty. With good acidity, it presents a minerality supported by ripe fruit flavors such as pear and pineapple. Very tasty and with a long finish. Contains sulfites.
