Quinta da Pellada Alto Red

The Quinta da Pellada Alto was aged for 28 months in French oak use room. This is one of a trio of wines, this issue that owner Álvaro Castro has issued with old style labels as an exercise in terroir. This is a field mix of the highest plot (although in less than 10 meters – the differences are more in the soil); The House is the “most exposed” corner, with a different kind of soil; and the “49” is the middle pack. Its elegance makes it look lighter, but it is much more concentrated than the first taste would suggest. It has excellent fineness of the middle palate, full of flavor, well rolled and beautifully constructed.
Contains Sulfites.

Quinta da Pellada Casa Red

Quinta da Pellada Casa has aged in French barrels of eight years for about 28 months. This wine is another of the lessons of the winery in the terroir of this issue: this portion of Pellada is the “most exposed” of the three and has a more compact soil with some clay besides granite, the intense presence of pink / white quartz and the one that has more hours of sunshine per day. Intense grená color, consisting of bergamot in tea, violet in orange peel and fruits with cocoa and vanilla. Very expressive, elegant and generous tannins. Contains Sulfites.

Quinta da Pellada 49 Red

For Quinta da Pellada, mainly the field blend grapes of the old vineyard, but also the varieties Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz, where the intense fruit and freshness from the grapes of the farm that give the name to this wine is discovered. It has the most heterogeneous soils – all granite as a base – and the most limited mixture (Touriga Nacional and Alfrocheiro). It was aged in well-used French barrels for 28 months. Quinta da Pellada 49 has an intense garnet color. Bergamot, orange peel and aromas of wildflowers. In the mouth spices, cocoa and vanilla. Expressive, elegant and with generous tannins. Very gastronomic. Contains Sulfites.

Quinta da Pellada Encruzado Late Release White

This Encruzado comes from a plot at 500 meters altitude of granitic soil with lines of clay. After pre-fermentation skin contact and static decantation, fermentation took place in barrels (500/600L) with 5 years of use. The aging was very long (late release) in barrels without battonage or sulfur addition. Direct bottling without filtering or gluing. Contains sulfites.

Quinta da Pellada Primus Magnum White

Primus “is the harmony between exuberance and longevity. Exotic fruit, citrus and an ideal marriage between minerality, texture and acidity.
This wine, predominantly of the Encruzado variety, among many other grape varieties planted in the old Pellada vineyard, was partially fermented in barrels, followed by 3-month batonage and bottling. Contains Sulfites.

Quinta da Pellada Pinot Noir Red

Blackberry, cherry and blackcurrant notes, with a little spice. It is a variety that expresses well the elegance that we associate with Pinot, with good freshness, balanced tannins, smooth and good depth. Contains sulfites.

Quinta da Pellada Baga Red

This unique wine was obtained from a different variety. The process was entirely manual with the absence of pumps, minimal extraction and, of course, natural yeasts. Like any collector’s wine, it is recommended to age in bottle. Contains sulfites.

Quinta da Pellada Dente D`Ouro Red

“With grapes buying small parcels I make 1/2 barrels of wine and one of these wines is called the Golden Tooth, because the woman who sold me has a golden tooth.” Quinta da Pellada Dente D’Ouro spent 16 months in used French oak barrels. The wine is composed of several native grape varieties, mainly Jaen and Baga. The grapes come from a very old vineyard with vineyards, which are between 80 and 100 years old. It is very important for Alvaro Castro to show that it is indeed possible to revive the tradition of blends of native fields and vines in his Dao area. The wine shines with ruby red with violet nuances. It shows a beautiful fresh and mineral scent, thin and incredibly complex, with notes of blackberry and plum. On the palate, a medium concentration, blueberry aromas, notes of spices and some earthy notes, plus unlikely silky tannins, absolutely attractive. A light red wine, elegant and very fresh, juicy, with mineral notes and berries, at a long, deep and very thin finish. Wonderfully multi-layered and with elegant precision. Simply sublime! Contains Sulfites.

Quinta da Pellada Muleta Red

The 2015 wine year in Dão was marked by drier winter than the previous year and the rain that fell in early spring allowed some soil water reserves to support the plant during the dry spring and summer months. an early year in July, the vineyard was already in the painter phase, with the harvest beginning one week earlier than the previous year. The wine Quinta da Pellada Muleta is the result of the effort to conserve the genetic heritage that exists in the Dão region. Fermentation in mill, stage in barrels 225l with 10 years and bottled in May 2017 by gravity without filter. Minilismalist intervention to conserve the characteristics of the vineyard. Ruby color of good concentration. The aroma is very elegant, slightly floral, with notes of wild fruit and some menthol. In the mouth, it is alive, and with acidity. Fresh fruit and spicy flavors are involved in a refreshing mineral profile. It presents a good volume of mouth, without being heavy, offering a perfumed, long and very balanced finish. Contains Sulfites.
