Aged for 13 months in new 400L French oak barrels. In 2009, after yet another dry winter, hot summer conditions clearly indicated that an early harvest was likely and good weather and considerable heat throughout the final ripening period brought one of the earliest harvests at Quinta do Vesuvio. The combination of drought and very hot temperatures in August and September set the stage for a challenging crop. In fact, this was one of the smallest vintages in the Douro over the last 15 years, with some of the region’s main varietals failing in some areas under the difficult conditions. Contains sulfites.

The wine has a beautiful golden color. The nose is mysterious, with notes of flint and minerality, that appear between the aromas of white and floral fruits. Very elegant on the palate, with fine texture and lively acidity. A unique wine that will continue to evolve over the years in the bottle.

Mechanical harvest at night. Total stalking. Cold pre-fermentative maceration for 48 hours. Fermentation with controlled temperature (22ºC -28ºC) in stainless steel vats. Post-fermentative maceration for 5 to 10 days. Malolactic fermentation in stainless steel vats with French oak staves.50% of the wine in 400L French oak barrels for 4 months. Intense ruby color with violet reflections. Ripe aroma of red fruits well integrated with notes of spices and balsamic. Balanced, round palate, fruit and spice flavors.
