Aged for 13 months in new 400L French oak barrels. In 2009, after yet another dry winter, hot summer conditions clearly indicated that an early harvest was likely and good weather and considerable heat throughout the final ripening period brought one of the earliest harvests at Quinta do Vesuvio. The combination of drought and very hot temperatures in August and September set the stage for a challenging crop. In fact, this was one of the smallest vintages in the Douro over the last 15 years, with some of the region’s main varietals failing in some areas under the difficult conditions. Contains sulfites.

The grapes were harvested manually, gently de-stemmed and pressed after careful sorting in the cellar. Fermentation took place in stainless steel vats and used 400L and 500L oak barrels. The grapes that make up this wine come from old vines planted in schist soil at an average altitude of 350 meters in the region between Freixo de Espada à Cinta and Barca d'Alva, in the Douro Superior. With exposure to the Northeast, we were able to obtain full-bodied red wines with an elegant profile. Hand picking vintage. Fermentation made by grape varieties to improve the rigor in the selection of the final blend that gives rise to this wine. Fermentation takes place in small-capacity stainless steel vats, with a controlled temperature of around 28ºC. Controlled maceration in order to obtain an aromatic and elegant wine. Aging for 12 months in French oak barrels. Balance between the intense flavor of red fruits and the elegance that comes from aging in French oak barrels for 12 months. Contains sulfites.
Florão Red

The grapes are harvested into small boxes and received in the property's cellar. Manual sorting is followed by destemming and gentle crushing, after which the grapes are transferred to fermentation vessels using a peristaltic pump. Fermentations are followed individually and temperatures and maceration movements are adjusted in order to maximize the potential of the grapes. Aging 50% of the batch aged for 6 months in third and fourth year 400L French oak barrels. The relatively fresh cycle of the year is reflected in the elegance and clarity of the aromas, which denote pine and eucalyptus and also notes of rose bush. It also reveals hints of raspberry and currant. In the mouth it is very fresh, with wild fruit flavors complemented by spicy notes from fine tannins, as well as cloves and nutmeg. Very pleasant right away, but it will improve a lot with another year or two of evolution in the bottle.
Quinta do Vallado DOC Red

The grapes were harvested by hand and vinified in stainless steel vats of 5 and 10 tons of capacity and a small part in mills. The must fermented for about a week at 23º - 25º C, with automatic reassembly programmed. Approximately 75% of the wine aged for 12 months in stainless steel vats and the remainder in 225 lt French oak barrels of the 3rd and 4th year. Concentrated aroma, highlighting the ripe red fruits, rockrose and violet. Good structure, fleshy with round tannins. Persistent finish. Contains sulfites.
