Aged for 13 months in new 400L French oak barrels. In 2009, after yet another dry winter, hot summer conditions clearly indicated that an early harvest was likely and good weather and considerable heat throughout the final ripening period brought one of the earliest harvests at Quinta do Vesuvio. The combination of drought and very hot temperatures in August and September set the stage for a challenging crop. In fact, this was one of the smallest vintages in the Douro over the last 15 years, with some of the region’s main varietals failing in some areas under the difficult conditions. Contains sulfites.

It presents a very elegant and balanced body, with velvety and round tannins, with good expression of balsamic and pine notes. Organic wine: Manual harvest for small 15 kg perforated boxes, fermentation with cold technology, in a reductive environment, with controlled temperature around 16ºC. The grapes are pressed without crushing and without destemming under an inert atmosphere in order to preserve all the aromatic potential of the grapes. A great effort is made to ensure that all pre-fermentation operations are carried out with the utmost rigor, being responsible for the intrinsic quality of the future wine. The entire wine is fermented in used French oak and remains there after a small racking over fine lees with periodic “battonage” stirring until the final blend is made. 6 months in French oak barrels, fermentation and agitation stage with fine lees, coming from the very sandy Upper Douro granitic soil at an average altitude of 575 meters. It has a citrus and mineral aroma, grapefruit notes, discrete exotic fruits and country flowers. Very persistent and fresh mouth with very lively citrus notes, resulting in a very elegant set.

Grapes from a plot of the Quinta, the Corredoira vineyard. All grapes are hand-picked in 20 kg boxes. After a partial destemming and slight crushing, they go to the press where there is a slight contact between the skins and the must. Soft pressing and fermentation at medium/high temperatures in stainless steel vats. Finished fermentation in French oak barrels of 300 liters. Aged in barrels with total lees, with batonage, for 6 months. Vineyards with an average age of 35 years. Straw color, very complex and deep aroma. A lot of minerality with a light smoke, reveals citrus and fresh notes. Elegant and balanced palate, aromatic, with good volume and a very fresh and mineral finish. Contains sulfites.
