The wine Scala Coeli (whcih in Latin means “stairway to heaven”) owes its name to the Monastery of Santa Maria Scala Coeli. commonly known as Carthusian Monastery, where the Carhusian monks remain in silence and prayer. It results from the best vinifications of each year of less traditional grape varieties in the Alentejo, was produced for the first time, in the harvest of 2008. Contains Sulfites.

Horta Osório Pontão Grand Reserve Red

After manual harvesting, the grapes were transported in boxes of 18 kg capacity so as not to harm the integrity of the bunch. Once in the cellar, the boxes were unloaded onto a sorting mat for the first sorting of the grapes. This was followed by destemming, choosing berry by berry and crushing them, which were transported by gravity to stainless steel fermentation tanks. After 48 hours of pre-fermentation maceration at low temperatures, alcoholic fermentation took place for 10 days where, depending on the variety and the plot, a protocol of pumping over and deletions was carried out. After malolactic fermentation, the different components aged in 225L oak barrels for 18 months. After bottling, the wine aged for another 24 months in bottle. It is a ruby colored wine with deep intensity. In the aroma, it is very young and full of fresh fruit, concentrated blackberry, black currant, forest with balsamic and spicy nuances from the barrel. In the mouth, it presents both powerful and fine tannins, giving this wine an enormous capacity for keeping.

The harvest was performed manually for small capacity boxes. After destemming the grapes, they were trampled on foot in modern temperature-controlled stainless steel presses, followed by aging in French oak barrels and prolonged aging in the bottle. Fermentation steps on foot in stainless steel tanks with temperature control. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. Compact ruby color, fine but powerful tannins. Grapes harvested by hand, for boxes of 25 kg, at their ideal point of maturation; intended to have a vigorous maturation, leading to higher aromatic and polyphenolic concentrations. After gentle crushing and total destemming, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel vats and wine presses, thus allowing the quality constituents present in the films of very ripe grapes to pass smoothly into the wine. After malolactic fermentation, the wine aged in used 300 liter French oak barrels for approximately 12 months. Purple and very deep color, very complex and distinct aromas where the fruity and floral character predominates, characteristic of the grape variety, with notes of spicy notes coming from the wood. In the mouth it shows fruit, complexity, great balance and harmony with high level tannins that give it a long finish. Contains Sulfites.

After destemming and crushing, the grapes are pressed in pneumatic press with oxidation protection. Static decanting for 48 hours and alcoholic fermentation in French oak barrels. Clear wine, straw color, aromas of apricot, lime and peach, with notes of toast from the barrel. Fresh, unctuous and structured, with notes of citrus, toasted barrel and persistent finish. Contains Sulfites.
