Explore the Quinta da Rede Sousão Red, a robust and full-bodied wine from the Douro region, Lower Corgo sub-region. Originating from vineyards on the slopes of the Serra do Marão at an altitude of 400 meters, this wine is purely made from Sousão grapes, known for their intensity and depth.
The vinification process includes total destemming and prolonged yet gentle skin maceration, followed by fermentation in mechanical lagares at 26ºC for 10 days. After fermentation, the wine matures for 16 months in new 500-liter French oak barrels, gaining unique complexity.
This red wine boasts an intense red color and deep aromas of wild berries, field herbs, and spices, with a light smoky touch from the barrel. On the palate, it offers juicy red fruit and solid tannins, complemented by excellent acidity that brings freshness and persistence. Ideal for pairing with fatty or well-seasoned meats like pork or goat, it should be served between 16ºC-17ºC. With potential to age for at least a decade, it is an excellent choice for maturing in your cellar.

Manual harvest into small 15 kg perforated boxes, whole bunches without destemming, using very gentle crushing and pressing processes, under an inert atmosphere in order to preserve the full aromatic potential of the grapes. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts, 25% of the must ferments in used French oak barrels and the rest in stainless steel vats. After fermentation, the wines fermented in stainless steel and in barrels are blended and aged on fine lees until bottling. Mineral aroma, citrus and exotic fruits, fresh with good mouth volume, buttery texture and complexity given by fermentation and aging in barrels.

Reception with destemming and immediate crushing. Fermentation in stainless steel vats of 18 tons capacity, with tanning at around 26ºC. Intense and prolonged macerations and partial malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels. Stage for 10 months in new and used French oak barrels. The stage begins to obtain a wine of great aromatic elegance, where the aromas of the Douro are not masked by the excess of barrel notes. Part of the batch is stacked in French oak barrels while the rest is kept in stainless steel for about 6 months. On the palate, it is more robust than the previous year. with a markedly rustic character. Once again, an excellent wine, balanced and elegant, presenting the simple style (uncomplicated). Fresh grapes at their ideal point of maturation, picked by hand into 20 kg boxes, are transported to the cellar where they were subjected to a careful manual selection. They are destemmed and trodden on foot in a stone mill, where they ferment and later go to French oak barrels where they remain on stage for 32 months. Red wine with slight tinged hints. Expressive on the nose, with notes of black fruit, chocolate, licorice, rockrose and smoke. In the mouth, it is a very fat wine, of great persistence and freshness. Contains sulfites.
