Aged for 13 months in new 400L French oak barrels. In 2009, after yet another dry winter, hot summer conditions clearly indicated that an early harvest was likely and good weather and considerable heat throughout the final ripening period brought one of the earliest harvests at Quinta do Vesuvio. The combination of drought and very hot temperatures in August and September set the stage for a challenging crop. In fact, this was one of the smallest vintages in the Douro over the last 15 years, with some of the region’s main varietals failing in some areas under the difficult conditions. Contains sulfites.

The harvested grapes rested for 24 hours in a refrigerated container at 8º C in order to protect the integrity of the bunches. Following selection on a mat of choice, 30% destemmed and 70% whole bunches were introduced into the vat, allowing the extraction of color and aroma compounds more smoothly during 3 weeks of alcoholic fermentation entirely in stainless steel vats, having completed the malolactic fermentation. in stainless steel. The white grapes that make up this wine come from schist soil vineyards planted at an average altitude of 350 meters, with northeast exposure, between Freixo de Espada à Cinta and Barca d'Alva. Hand picking vintage. The grapes are slowly pressed, followed by fermentation at a temperature of 16ºC in French oak barrels with battonage. Aging for 6 months in French oak barrels and stainless steel vats with Battonage. Strong traces of minerality and citrus, with a light touch of wood caused by aging in French oak barrels.
