Aged for 13 months in new 400L French oak barrels. In 2009, after yet another dry winter, hot summer conditions clearly indicated that an early harvest was likely and good weather and considerable heat throughout the final ripening period brought one of the earliest harvests at Quinta do Vesuvio. The combination of drought and very hot temperatures in August and September set the stage for a challenging crop. In fact, this was one of the smallest vintages in the Douro over the last 15 years, with some of the region’s main varietals failing in some areas under the difficult conditions. Contains sulfites.

After manual harvesting, the grapes were quickly sent to the cellar, where they were destemmed and gently pressed. The must, clarified by the cold, fermented slowly for approximately 2 weeks in stainless steel vats, with controlled temperature. With a lemon yellow color and a bright appearance, this is an aromatically discreet wine, of medium intensity, which privileges the notes of green apple, lime and a vegetal character balanced by a pungent minerality. In the mouth it is “full” and vibrant. The finish is persistent and pleasantly confirms the mineral character of the nose. Contains sulfites.

This wine expresses the personality of the terroir od Dão wines being elaborated from the Alfrocheiro, Jaen, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Nacional varieties, produced and vinified at Quinta do Soito. Demonstrates a red with bricky nuances. It has a delicate aroma with the expression of notes of very ripe red fruits, cassis and blackberry, married with a light touch of black pepper, cocoa and vanilla. Vinification in tanning at 28ºC with stalks. Aging 24 months in used wooden barrels. Red color with brownish tones, leather aromas, black fruits, black tea, violets and hazelnut. Total destemming, soft crushing and thermal shock, followed by a period of pre-fermentation cold maceration in a mill for about 12h to 24h, after which the masses were transferred to wide and low fermentation vats, maceration for 8 days. at 22°C. Aging for 4 months, 50% in stainless steel and 50% in American and French oak barrels. Sensation of wild aromas in which red fruits predominate, complexed by a slight aging in wood. Subsequent aging at low temperatures, remaining on the lees with light battonage for 4 months before bottling. The name Encantado tells the story that takes place in the roots of the vineyards in harmony with the cork oak forest and all the fauna and flora of this rich territory, which gives rise to unique wines. It is a wine with an intense minerality and an important herbal side, but it shows all the power of the yellow fruit and even a more tropical one.
