Pretexto Red

Pretexto is a Portuguese red wine produced with grapes from different vineyards in the Dão region. These grapes came 90% from Penalva do Castelo (Jaen, Alfrocheiro and Tinta Roriz) from vineyards at an altitude of 550-620 meters in quartz and clay soils and 10% from Vila Nova de Tazem (Touriga Nacional) from vineyards in soils of granite and at an altitude of 480-550 meters. All these vineyard plots are currently being converted to organic certification. It was fermented in stainless steel tanks with 30% whole bunch, followed by a 30-day cuvaison. The final batch aged in French oak vats (5000 L) and in barrels for 11 months. Naturally stabilized. With delicate aromas and lively red fruit character, the most evident being the cherry. The mouth accompanies the fruit combined with good acidity, some carbonic notes and a mentholated and balsamic profile. Soft tannins, pleasant herbaceous from the use of the whole bunch and good length in the aftertaste. It is an elegant wine with the typical freshness of the Dão region. Contains sulfites.
Marquês D’Almeida White

The grapes were vinified with total destemming, followed by soft crushing and skin maceration for about 12 hours. After this period in an inert atmosphere, pressing was carried out in a pneumatic press, followed by a period of clarification of the must, from 24 to 48 hours, depending on the variety and the state of maturation. The alcoholic fermentation took place at a controlled temperature between 12º and 14ºC. The wines aged in stainless steel on fine lees until bottling. A new wine from old strains. In terms of aroma, it is a very fresh wine, with citrus fruit, in harmony with light floral nuances and strong mineral notes typical of the Terroir. Contains sulfites.

Manual harvesting, reception with total destemming and crushing immediately, the grapes are fermented by grape varieties and batches, so that from a very early age a rigorous selection can be made that will later give rise to the “blend”, very traditional from the old world, reveals the art of selecting grapes by parcels and the art of selecting wines for blending. Fermentation takes place in small capacity stainless steel vats, with temperatures around 28 ºC. Smooth and controlled macerations in order to obtain elegant and aromatic wines. Part of the lot is aged for a period of 12 months in predominantly French oak, with a small percentage of American wood. Intense aroma of great complexity, aromas of forest fruits and cistus from Touriga Franca, spices and red fruits from Tinta Roriz and very fresh and elegant violet floral notes from Touriga Nacional. After manual harvesting and transport to the cellar in small boxes (18kg-20kg), the bunches were hand-de-stemmed and the grapes trodden by foot in a small press. Fermentation started spontaneously and lasted approximately 20 days. It was transferred to a pitcher without the use of electricity. This wine has a red fruit aroma. Fresh, light and disconcerting wine. Harmonization and longevity: It is a challenge to gastronomy. Quintas de Borba Grand Reserve Red

This wine comes from selected grapes in the oldest vineyards in the Borba region. After rigorous control of the maturation evolution of the grapes in the vineyard, upon arrival at the winery the grapes were de-stemmed and gently crushed, followed by the alcoholic fermentation process in a stainless steel press, with mechanical treading, ending in maceration for 10 days, under temperature control at 22-25ºC. Malolactic fermentation took place in a small stainless steel tank. Aging for 12 months in new French, American and brown oak barrels prior to bottling and a final aging in the cellar for 12 months in bottle. Garnet color. Aroma of black fruit jam. Full flavor with soft, fruity and toasted tannins, with final freshness and sweet cocoa.
