Founded in 1920 by the brothers José, Manuel and Albano Costa, Caves São João is a family business that was originally dedicated to the marketing of fine Douro wines and liqueurs. Today, the oldest family-run wine company still operating in the municipality of Anadia, in the 1930s, it passed the ban on the production of Porto wines outside Vila Nova de Gaia, to sell Bairrada table wines. At the end of the 50’s, one of the most famous wine brands in the Bairrada region – the “Frei João” – was born and, a little later, the “Porta dos Cavaleiros” brand from the Dão region. Chryseia 2021 was produced from a rigorous selection of grapes from Quinta de Roriz and Quinta da Perdiz, properties of Prats & Symington. As in all previous editions of Chryseia, there was also the usual contribution from Roriz's neighboring vineyard, Quinta da Vila Velha, privately owned by Rupert Symington. It symbolizes the union of the noble Portuguese wine heritage with the no less rich Bordeaux oenological tradition.

Fermented by indigenous yeasts, thus allowing a better expression of the vines and soils. Aged for one year in used barrels. Coelheiros red reveals the vigorous character provided by Alicante Bouschet and the silky texture and density of the mouth provided by Touriga Nacional. In the nose, the aroma of red fruits predominates with slight hints of smoke and spices. On the palate it shows density and richness, it is balanced with good acidity and fine tannins. The finish is long and persistent. Contains sulfites.
Quinta de la Rosa DOC Red

The ripe fruit becomes more elegant thanks to fresh forest and floral aromas; in the mouth the volume and the excellent acidity are outstanding. The Quinta de la Rosa red 2013 shows well the profile of the vintage: full of fruit, medium-bodied and vibrant at the end. The live tannins show that you will benefit greatly from the bottle stage. Clear of intense ruby color. It shows some reflexes of fine red. In the nose it is elegant and complex with presence of very mature red fruits marrying notes of cinnamon and spices, of high refinement. In the mouth it is soft with good structure of tannins. It presents a long and authentic ending, according to its tradition. Classical vinification, fermentation with controlled temperature up to 28ºC for 5 to 6 days. Stage 4 years in stainless steel tanks, 10 months in Allier Fino and 5 months in the bottle. Contains Sulfites.
