Best Ports can age many years in seasoned oak casks. This prolonged time in barrel ensures that the wines take on soft almond and walnut aromas, losing the intense red colour of its youth but gaining immense delicacy, richness and profound intensity of flavour. The word ‘Colheita’ means ‘harvest’, for Port this word is used to describe a wine from a single year that has been aged in wood for a minimum of 7 years.

Hand-picked at their optimum point, the grapes are destemmed, crushed and vinified according to a process that is based on a careful maceration with extraction of colour, tannins and aromas from the skins, complemented by permanent pumping over during fermentation. This takes place in mills, at a controlled temperature between 28-30ºC, until reaching the desired Baumé degree. At this stage, the wine spirit is added (benefit), resulting in a fortified wine. High quality wine, from a single harvest. It ages in wood for variable periods of time, never less than 7 years, and is then bottled according to market requests. Vivid amber color with a hint of gold. Enveloping, honeyed nose, of incredible complexity, abundant in rich aromas of condensed milk, vanilla and coffee. On the palate it is complex, unctuous and well structured. A wonderfully balanced wine with a long-lasting finish. Contains sulfites.
