When exquisite Port wines are aged in seasoned oak barrels for several years, they gradually lose their original deep purple color, acquiring the delicate amber hue known as tawny. In this process, the fruity simplicity of young Port gives way to a wide range of subtle and smooth flavors, such as licorice, nuts, honey, figs, vanilla, spices and refined oak.
Ports with an indication of age are the result of blends over several years, developing a refined flavor through aging in selected oak barrels, which confer the maturity and character characteristic of old tawnies. The careful selection made by the cellar master guarantees the ideal integration of each blend. Older ports provide complexity and maturity, while younger ports provide vigor and freshness. The result is an aged Tawny, with the average age indicated on the label.

When fine Porto wines are aged in oak barrels over many years, they gradually lose their original deep purple color and acquire the delicate amber hue known as tawny. On the plateau of Alijó, Samarrinho benefits from a cool climate which gives it a very interesting aromatic profile and a lot of acidity. However, it is in the warmer years of the Douro that Samarrinho presents the best wines, proving to be a very Douro variety! After being pressed in a pneumatic press, fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats without skin contact. The aging takes place over a period of 6 months, thus preserving all the freshness and varietal character of this fantastic grape variety. A great and very fresh white Douro that at first impression has slight nuances of minerals, followed by charming notes of white fruit. A very harmonious wine, showing itself intense and delicate at the same time with a lot of freshness and excellent volume of tasting and with surprising minerality. It has a medium body and a voluminous final finish, showing very peculiar characteristics. A wine with enormous potential for bottle aging. Contains Sulfites.

A very original wine with an intense and fresh aroma where the notes of fruits of the forest and slight vegetal impressions are emphasized, creating a remarkable complexity. Intense of flavors, with a lot of presence, however it shows itself extremely elegant and ends with a long and fresh finish and very soft. Contains Sulfites.

The Rufete variety reveals nobility for its ability to produce exotic reds with great potential for evolution in the bottle. A round wine with soft tannins, full bodied but at the same time elegant, with aromas of black and red fruit. The wines of caste Rufete are light in comparison to the typical Douros, however, they demonstrate a unique personality ending with a very long end of mouth. It is an excellent demonstration of the Douro's vincadíssimo character, where even a caste as striking as the Gewurztraminer is completely transformed by our region. We try to make a wine where the characteristics of the caste in terms of aroma and taste are very evident, but at the same time maintaining the character of the white wines of the Douro, our structure, minerality and acidity. It is therefore an extremely aromatic wine with aromas of Lychia and Rosa (so typical of this variety) very evident, but unlike the usual, dry, austere and with beautiful acidity. Contains Sulfites.

Fermentation and maceration take place in stainless steel barrels at a controlled temperature. 100% of the wine ages in French and American oak barrels for 8 to 10 months in excellent conditions of natural aging. Clean, deep and beautiful garnet color. Intense aromas of plums and cherries. A slight nuance of vanilla reflects the time required for the barrel to age, which does not interfere with its typicality. During tasting, the wine enters the palate with a true explosion of ripe fruit flavors, leaving in the end an expression of perfect structural harmony. Contains Sulfites.

Malvasia Preta is one of the oldest varieties in the Douro, being present among the Vinhas Velhas of the region, although it was never produced as a single variety. With a distinct profile, it is combined with varieties such as Rufete, Tinta Francisca and Bastardo, which present more exotic and elegant wine profiles, living on intensity and acidity, as opposed to the structured and potent profile that the Douro usually presents us with. The curiosity that leads us to experiment with Malvasia Preta, essentially arises from the fact that it is an original variety from the Douro, being present in the region and resisting the harsh conditions of the terroir.
