Discover Bacalhôa Bical Vinhas Velhas 1931 White, a precious wine from Quinta da Rigodeira, acquired by Aliança Vinhos de Portugal in 2003. Located in the excellent wine region of Bairrada, between Fogueira and Ancas, this farm is home to notable plots, including a plantation from 1931, dedicated to the noble Bical grape variety.
This wine is distinguished by its unique aging: 60% of the batch fermented and matured for 12 months in new and one-year-old French oak barrels, while the remaining 40% benefited from the purity and freshness provided by stainless steel.
It has an extremely pale greenish yellow color, revealing an intense, finely delicate aroma, with touches of white-fleshed fruit and soft toasted notes. After manual harvesting, the grapes were transported in boxes of 18 kg capacity so as not to harm the integrity of the bunch. Once in the cellar, the boxes were unloaded onto a sorting mat for the first sorting of the grapes. This was followed by destemming, choosing berry by berry and crushing them, which were transported by gravity to stainless steel fermentation tanks. After 48 hours of pre-fermentation maceration at low temperatures, alcoholic fermentation took place for 10 days where, depending on the variety and the plot, a protocol of pumping over and deletions was carried out. After malolactic fermentation, the different components aged in 225L oak barrels for 18 months. After bottling, the wine aged for another 24 months in bottle. It is a ruby colored wine with deep intensity. In the aroma, it is very young and full of fresh fruit, concentrated blackberry, black currant, forest with balsamic and spicy nuances from the barrel. In the mouth, it presents both powerful and fine tannins, giving this wine an enormous capacity for keeping.

Aged for 4 months in used French oak barrels. A wine concentrated and deep in the aroma, with a floral edge of great intensity, forest, pine forest and wild berries. Dense mouth with good structure, with present and appealing tannins with discreet vanilla finish. Alcoholic fermentation was carried out in stainless steel with temperature control at 27°C, with grapes that had been destemmed.
