QUINTA DAS MAIAS Red
7,53 €
MAIAS wine comes from the Quinta das Maias property, in organic farming, which is located at about 600 meters of altitude in the foothills of Serra da Estrela. The name derives from the yellow broom that covers the slopes of the mountain and here they are called «Mayas» because they bloom in the month of May.
The wines are characterized by the freshness of grapes from vines planted at altitude and by sandy granite-based soils.
This wine has as main grape varieties Jaen and Touriga Nacional, two of the best grape varieties in the Iberian Peninsula. The combination of these two grape varieties presents aromas of blackberries and sloes in perfect balance with the fresh and subtle texture.

Fully produced with the Merlot grape variety, in clay-limestone soils, the climatic conditions of the Serra da Arrábida area allow the grapes of this variety to be obtained with a strong local personality. A classic, slow and controlled fermentation was carried out followed by an end of fermentation in new barrels of French "Allier" oak that contributed to the excellent integration of the aromas and flavors of the grape and the wood. The subsequent prolonged maturation in the same barrels guaranteed a complexity of complementary palate. In the mouth it is full, it has ripe fruit combined with fine but elegant but firm tannins that give it a complex and very persistent structure. This wine has a great aging potential in the bottle.18 months in French oak barrels. Intense red color and notes of red fruit such as cherry and plum combined with nuances of chocolate, mocha and spices. Contains Sulfites.
