The grapes from several very old vineyards in the Alto Douro Vinhateiro (Mêda) were pressed in whole bunches, in order to extract the freshest and most vibrant must possible. Keeping the origin of each vineyard, the musts followed the alcoholic fermentation in new 500L French oak barrels. Fermentation process from indigenous yeasts, brings more complexity and character to wines. Long maturation on total lees (12 months). Malolactic partials make up the Burgundian-inspired route. Concise, elegant, frank, expressive. Fresh citrus notes with great notoriety, lime, grapefruit, flower, white fruit, irreproachable trace of pure minerality. The harvested grapes rested for 24 hours in a refrigerated container at 8º C in order to protect the integrity of the bunches. Followed by selection on a mat of choice, 30% were introduced into the vat with crushing and 70% in whole bunches, which allowed the extraction of color and aroma compounds more smoothly during 3 weeks of alcoholic fermentation totally in stainless steel vats, having completed the malolactic fermentation in stainless steel. It was then aged for 75% in used 4-year-old barrels of 400L and 225L of French oak, where it remained for 12 months, with the remaining part of the batch aged in stainless steel vats. of wild fruits, in a typical Douro region with a fine cut, slightly spicy and fresh. In the mouth it is seductive, with rusticity conferred by the stems of the grapes, combined with a good minerality. Long, thin and vibrant profile. Contains sulfites.

This harvest has a pale yellow color with greenish reflections, a rich aroma of yellow fruits characteristic of the Chardonnay variety, such as peach and pineapple, combined with roasted and vanilla nuances from contact with French wood. In the mouth, we find strong flavors of yellow fruits well combined with wood, a frank acidity, which gives it a mineral character and a full and persistent finish. With the bottle stage it gains complexity by highlighting notes of nuts. Contains Sulfites.
Sidónio de Sousa Reserva Red
