In schist soils, this wine aims to express the essence of the Douro and its former viticulturists, thus believing that this form of conception is one that allows one to feel the true expression and interpretation of the terroir. Vinhas da Teixuga Red is a monovarietal from Jaen, one of the typical grape varieties of the region, and shows the full potential of this variety, largely due to twelve months in French oak barrels, carefully selected to highlight the special characteristics of the variety. With outstanding gastronomic potential, it has a distinctly ruby color, with intense aromas of red fruits, jams and spices. Arouquesa veal, baked cod or grilled sardines are perfect companions. Hand-picked grapes, reception with total destemming and crushing immediately. Fermentation in stainless steel vats at a temperature between 16-17ºC for a period of about 25 days. Stage with agitation of lees “batonnage. Fresh and vibrant aroma, apple, melon, peach and citrus aromas in balance with very discreet creamy vanilla notes. Volume and acidity ending in a very long aftertaste. Contains Sulfites.
Messias Garrafeira Red
Partial destemming of the grapes before entering the mill, where they were trodden by foot for 6 days. Finishing of the alcoholic fermentation in vinaigrette French oak barrels. The 2-year aging in wood is followed by another year of aging in the cellar. Intense ruby color. Characteristic Atlantic wine, where balsamic nuances of resin and cedar are involved with iodine and saline sensations. Huge structure and great aging potential.
