Quinta do Vesúvio DOC 2012 Red
86,90 €
15 months in French oak barrels of 225 and 400 liters (new and second use). 2012 was an exceptionally dry year. In late February, much of the Douro Valley was suffering from extremely dry conditions. The vines, however, adapted to water stress, developing shorter shoots and with fewer leaves, which, combined with the small number of clusters, reduced the need for water. This, together with summer temperatures a few degrees lower than average, allowed the vines to remain active, with the grapes reaching good levels of phenolic maturation and maintaining an aromatic profile of great freshness and intensity. With the grapes selected by hand on a mat of choice and using the vinification in new fermentation vats fed by gravity, this Quinta do Vesuvio 2012, aged fourteen months in French oak before being bottled.
