Ana Rola, mother of Maria Luís, created Malu, using 60% Touriga Nacional with 40% Touriga Franca, aged for fourteen months in French oak barrels. In turn, José Serpa Pimentel and Helga Rodrigues, parents of Maria Teresa, created Maitê, blending 60% Touriga Franca with 40% Touriga Nacional, also aged for fourteen months in barrels.
There is also a third wine, Malu e Maitê, because, as the press release says, “the three friends and partners decided to make the Marias inseparable and used the two wines to create what is called a ‘perfect friendship’.”
