Quinta de Foz de Arouce Vinhas Velhas de Santa Maria Red – The strength of Baga from Beira Atlântico
Quinta de Foz de Arouce Vinhas Velhas de Santa Maria Red is a limited edition wine from 80-year-old vineyards located in Lousã, between the Serra da Lousã and Serra de Penela, by the Arouce and Ceira rivers. The estate has produced wine since the 18th century, making it one of the most historic in the region.
Made exclusively from Baga grape variety, it reveals all the authenticity of the Beira terroir. The grapes are harvested by hand in small boxes to preserve quality. After total destemming, fermentation takes place in a press with foot treading, followed by a long post-fermentation maceration. A long post-fermentative maceration follows, with malolactic fermentation in barrel and 14 months ageing in French oak.
