Niepoort Robustus Tinto

The grapes for the Robustus were manually selected at the entrance to the winery, falling by gravity into a stainless steel tank. The alcoholic fermentation and maceration time were long. The ageing in 2000-litre vats lasted over 4 years. The Robustus is a wine of mature character. After an extended ageing in 2000L foudres, it develops tertiary aromas that are somewhat earthy, with an emphasis on a peat scent. The tannins are seductive, yet perfectly balanced, with great structure, which only old vines can convey. On the palate, it impresses with its youth, lightness, and tension, very refined, with a long and persistent finish. Contains sulphites.
