Kopke 40 Years Tawny
140,29 €
Hand-harvested at optimal ripeness, the grapes are destemmed, crushed, and vinified through a process based on careful maceration with extraction of color, tannins, and aromas from the skins, complemented by continuous pump-overs during fermentation. This takes place in traditional stone lagares at a controlled temperature between 28-30ºC, until the desired Baumé degree is reached. At this stage, grape brandy (benefício) is added, resulting in a fortified wine. A wine of high quality, obtained by blending wines from several different harvests to achieve a complementarity of organoleptic characteristics typical of this style of aged tawny. It ages in wood for varying periods, where the age stated on the label corresponds to the approximate average age of the different wines in the blend, expressing the character of the wine in terms of the characteristics conferred by cask aging. Deep amber color with greenish rim. Extremely complex nose with suggestions of dried nuts, such as walnuts, raisins, and figs, wrapped in subtle hints of vanilla and honey. On the palate it is dense, silky, and concentrated, impressing with its freshness. Powerful and very persistent finish. Contains sulfites.
