Sommelier’s Selection for July 2025
Rui Madeira
Our selection is guided by the experience and excellence of a sommelier with a distinguished career in the wine world. With a qualification in Sommellerie from Turismo de Portugal and WSET, he brings to Cave Lusa extensive knowledge acquired over years in the restaurant and hospitality sector.
His career includes stints at some of the most prestigious gastronomic venues, such as Quinta das Lágrimas and Mesa de Lemos, being recognized for his talent with the nomination for Sommelier of the Year in 2016 by WINE – Essência do Vinho.
In the same year, he takes on the role of Head Sommelier and F&B Manager at the restaurant of the exclusive Hotel Areias do Seixo, in Santa Cruz (Torres Vedras, Lisbon), consolidating his reputation in the sector.
Today, it is this experience that gives rise to a distinct curation, designed to guide our customers with truly valuable sommelier tips, always with the goal of simplifying the choice of the right wine for every occasion.

Aroma citrusy and mineral, notes of grapefruit and wildflowers, mineral notes from an exclusively granite soil.
Palate persistent and fresh with very lively citrus notes resulting in a very elegant wine, with quite persistent acidity.

The base wine is a perpetual blend of several old vintages. Started in 2007. Production of only 300 bottles.
On the aroma, the intensity of citrus notes stands out, accompanied by a slight note of salinity.

Tasting Notes
Ruby-coloured wine.
On the nose, notes of blackberry, cherry and redcurrant, with some spice. It is a variety that well expresses the elegance we associate with Pinot.
On the palate it has good freshness, balanced tannins, smooth and with good depth.
