The grapes were selected manually at the entrance of the cellar, falling by gravity in an inox bowl. The alcoholic fermentation and the maceration time were long, in a total of 40 days. Aging in 2000 liter barrels lasted almost 4 years. Of this wine were bottled 3,025 bottles, without glue or filtration. The Robustus is a reflection of the Douro in its fullness, of deep, complex, austere aroma and with several layers to discover. Old vines and mixed grape varieties contribute to a thin, but full of identity. It shows in the glass an impressive freshness, sharp minerality and a lot of precision. Of remarkable balance, although very full-bodied and with good volume of mouth, the fine tannins and the long stage in barrel give the Robustus a lot of delicacy and elegance, in a long, expressive and talented finish. Being from now on a great wine, it is far from its best. It will age for decades in the bottle. Decantation required.
